Almost locked into the playoffs

March
21

While running down all of the bumps and bruises today, Knicks coach Isiah Thomas actually paused for a moment to consider what might have been.

“If we weren’t injured this would be a totally different conversation we’re having, he said. “If we weren’t injured, I’m pretty sure we’d have won a couple more of these games because we were playing good basketball. Our defense has kicked in and our offense was always there. With the shot-makers that we had and the rebounding and the flow and the way we were playing, we were on the come, but we’ll get there again.

How many more wins do you give the Knicks if they weren’t missing Jamal Crawford, David Lee or Quentin Richardson for an extended period of time?

I say three.

With a normal rotation they beat Boston, Seattle and New Orleans and take control of seventh place. Oh, well. There’s always next season.

Guess how Eddy Curry wound up with back spasms?

He attributes the problem to sitting on the Major Deegan Expressway for two hours on Monday en route to a Ronald McDonald House visit.

The quote of the day came from Channing Frye, who’s known to dwell on mistakes. He was asked if the unfamiliar protective glasses might become a distraction.

“It might make it better now, Frye said. “I’ll be thinking about the glasses and not everything else.

Mike- Any truth to the rumor that D Lee could hobble back this week against the Cavs? I’d heard he’s not jumping at this point (I think from you…) so I was surprised to see it reported (daily news?) that Lee could be back in two games.

I think he’s getting very close to coming back, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him soon. I’ll post more on it later, after shoot-around, perhaps.

Scrapping and clawing their way in.

See if they can keep up the fortitude, get some lucky bounces, and hope the competition (New Jersey, Orlando, Indiana) continues to stink.
