Frye is ready to practice

March
21

We aren’t in the gym yet, but Channing Frye was on the court shooting before practice and will be wearing protective eyewear until further notice. He is expected to practice when today’s film session is over.

And here’s some injury news that affects the playoff run:

Portland granted Zach Randolph a two-game leave to attend the funeral of his girlfriend’s cousin, who was shot to death at a motorcyle club. Here’s the story from “The Oregonian”:http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/sports/117436112573390.xml&coll=7.

Jermaine O’Neal suffered a hyperextended left knee on Tuesday, and is expected to miss Indiana’s game tonight in San Antonio. Here’s the story from the “Indianapolis Star”:http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070321/SPORTS04/703210482/1062/SPORTS04.

Toronto could be without No. 1 draft pick Andrea Bargnani for a couple of weeks. Here’s the story from the “Toronto Star”:http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/194369.

Is Frye wearing the Kareem goggles or the Rip Hamilton face-guard?

The Kareem goggles would be crazy old-school.

He’s wearing Bo Outlaw glasses, Oakleys.

I hate to admit it, but losing Frye last night was a killer.

The 3rd was bizarre. We were consistently stealing the ball right out of Dirk’s hands but could not convert on the break without Lee or Balkman out there. That was the chance to beat the Mavs right there, and we just didn’t quite get over the hump.

Missing a million free throws didn’t help either. You knew early on that would haunt us.

What’s even worse than there being a ton of Mavs jerseys at the Garden (fair weather fans much?) is that the Knicks couldn’t get a call in their own building. Why is it that the teams that need the least help get the most help from the refs? Balkman was thrown to the floor – no call. Stackhouse gets looked at the wrong way – whistle. That also helped kill us in the third.
