Another bad loss to the Nets

April
5

I know, it was only a silly popularity contest on NBA.com, but the Nets Dancers came out well ahead of the Knicks City Dancers, getting a ridiculous 78 percent of the popular vote.

And when you see the questionable photo used in voting, it’s not hard to figure out why.

No, it’s not Jason Kidd in tights. Here’s the “site”:http://nba.com/features/dance_bracket_2007.html.

Apparently, it’s a really big deal across the river. I’m don’t know yet when they’re having the parade, but here’s a copy of the press release the Nets just sent out, trumpeting the historic win:

NETS DANCERS TRIUMPH OVER KNICKS CITY DANCERS TO ADVANCE TO EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS OF NBA DANCE TEAM BRACKET ON APRIL 7-8

Fans encouraged to vote for their favorite dance team at www.njnets.com

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ—The Nets Dancers beat their cross-river rival Knicks City Dancers by a fan vote of 78 percent to 22 percent on Thursday in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals of the NBA Dance Team Bracket, a tournament to crown the fans’ favorite dance team. The competition began last weekend with thirty NBA dance teams competing for the title.

The fan vote concluded several hours after the Nets Dancers and Knicks City Dancers held a dance-off live on the CW11 Morning News.

The Nets Dancers will advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals at noon on Saturday, April 7, when they face the winner of the Miami Heat Dancers and the Wizards Dance Team. Fans can go to www.njnets.com and click onto the dance bracket where they can compare dancer photo galleries, video and websites before voting for their favorite team. Voting is open until noon on Sunday, April 8.

Before defeating the Knicks City Dancers, the Nets Dancers won their first-round match-up against the Sixers Dancers, 61 percent to 39 percent.

“The Nets Dancers appreciate the overwhelming support from our fans, said Kimberlee Garris, the Nets Entertainment and Events Marketing Coordinator. “We are raring to go to the next round and to continue to show that we are the most talented team in the league. We encourage our fans to vote.

I made that long analytical post a couple days ago about what the Knicks needed to make the playoffs. All games remaining for the Nets, Magic, Indiana, and NY only needed to result in the expected outcome, with 3 exceptions. The Knicks had to be Jersey in both games, and also beat either Detroit or Chicago.

I’ve since given up. The Philly game was a disaster. And, Gilbert Arenas is now out for the season, along with Butler. And the Nets face the Wiz twice in the last 8 games. The Nets are no longer the undergdog there.

No question, that pic of those Nets dancers absolutely KILLS ours, whew! lol

I dunno, I’ll take that blonde in black leather(?) any day of the week.

I’m not surprised the Sixers dancers lost. Ignoring looks, they are some of the worst dancers I have ever seen.
