Lewis is looking for a deal

May
26

In case you missed it, Rashard Lewis exercised the opt out in his contract on Friday. He’s officially on the open market. The likely selection of Kevin Durant in next month’s draft almost makes Lewis expendable.

Here’s the “Seattle Times”:http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/2003723030_soni26.html story.

Lenny Wilkens keeps saying that you don’t let a player like that walk out the door, but I have to believe he’s just saying what’s necessary to keep the fans happy. Let’s see if he comes through with a six-year deal.

We’ve been through all of the scenarios, but the only way he lands in New York is via a sign and trade. I have to believe Isiah Thomas will pursue Jermaine O’Neal, Kevin Garnett and Pau Gasol before he discusses trade components with Seattle.

And wouldn’t you love to listen in on that conversation?

“Hello, Lenny … Isiah here. Yeah, sorry about that misunderstanding a couple of years ago. Fired. Resigned. Whatever. … So do you want Nate Robinson?”

If I were Isiah, the only person i am willing to add salary on for his J O’Neal or Pau Gasol. Although Lewis would be a good fit, the knicks dont have the right pieces to trade away, no one wants Nate, Francis or James. Before Isiah makes any moves he has to consider what else is out there. It kinda sucks that who ever does come avail, Isiah has bad Pub. relations with, Larry Bird, Lenny Wilkens, the Raptors, and the Nets. I guess we can go get Artest…i rather have a new yorker on the NYK than Lewis anyway!

Lewis wants a huge deal and I don’t think he deserves it. Not playing for us he doesn’t at least.

I say NO on Lewis and especially Carter.

  3. K-FINK

I’d rather have O’Neil, Carter, or Artest before him.

$15 mil is way too much.

Knicks should not take him for 15 million, his unproven and untested, so his not worth it. Where was Sonics when he was there? His not the kind of player that can leads. His not a franchise player whom it can be said that the play should revolved around him. For me he stills an accidental take charge guy. He is not dependable in the paint in the mold of Boozer or Jermaine. He is more distinguished for his outside shots that is not consistent that of Peja, Dirk and even Mehmet. For me, he remains to be a sidekick as what his role to Allen in the Sonics.

Spot on brothers. He aint’ worth it. Jermaine/KG are on the radar. A deal with Atlanta would be good too, possibly Francis/Lee for the two picks/Mid Level/and some other crap

Keep Crawford, Marbury, Curry, and Lee. Lottery protect all trades of draft picks. We could use an athletic 3 to go with that quartet.

Mike, would anyone want anything else we have?

Also, were you joking or do you really think Lenny wouldn’t do a deal with Isaiah?

Lewis would be a great fit on a team thats a player away. Hes a 6’10 guy that is very talented but plays on the perimeter. I believe that the best bet for the Knicks would be JO. Hes an excellent help defender and him and isaiah get along. Like a poster mentioned, Isaiah has burnt many bridges in this profession, and I dont want him to overpay to get something he likes

Please .. no Vince Carter. No, No, No. That is what you’d call a “catastrophic mistake”.

I think R. Lewis is Vince Carter II. For all of the same reasons: No, No, NO!

    Dan,

I was joking. There’s no reason trade partners have to like each other to do business, but I don’t see a mutually beneficial deal here. Seattle would have to absorb salary from the Knicks, which I just can’t see Lenny doing.
