I was one of the six that voted for Durant. I'm just not convinced that Oden will be as dominant as everyone else. I think he'll be about as good as Stromile Swift.

Durant has an NBA-ready game right now and you also can't teach Durant's wingspan, which will help him defensively.

Unless Durant is Jordan Ill pick him over Oden. History taught us that in basketball whether in NBA or other leagues, that in a champion team there is always a good center behind.

During the Boston domination its because of Bill Russell.

Sixers became champion team not until the arrival of Moses Malone, it was a soso team when its only Julius Erving around.

It was Bill Walton who led Blazers to the pedestal.

Wilt Chamberlain always upgraded teams he joined particularly the Lakers.

Willis Reed made miracles for the Knicks.

Chicago's quests were always credited for Jordan, but not until the acquired Bill Cartwright the wore rings. Their center may have lesser roles but in their plays vital roles were contributed by their centers.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar gave Bucks a taste of glory and was a major actor to the Lakers showtime era.

Hakeem Olajuwon gave Rockets glorious years.

David Robinson was able to give Spurs its initial triumph.

Shaq O'neal made things to happen in Los Angeles and in Miami.

Tim Duncan continues to provide his Spurs teammates championship rings.

Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Rick Smits, Brad Daugherty never had rings but they had impressed their respective teams.

Players in the mold of Durant failed to carry its team to number 1. Look what Garnett, Karl Malone, Barkley, Jermaine O'neal, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, and other forwards achieved for their teams. Larry Bird was able to carry Celtics but Robert Parish and Bill Walton were around in those years. Magic Johnson led Lakers but Jabbar was around.

No you don't.

Oden hasn't done anything we haven't seen before in college.

Durrant is going to average 20+ points next year and it's only going to keep climbing.

Who's to say Oden won't turn out to be a bust? What has he done?

Durrant was player of the year as a freshman. That's never been done before.
