Let’s talk about the weather

August
19

Maybe we need to make up a wild trade … David Lee for Ron Artest.

Kidding.

There is a lull in the conversation every August, which I’m discovering isn’t conducive to blog traffic. Oh, well. I suspect there will be plenty of rumors to sort through in a couple of weeks.

Like maybe Lee for Artest.

Anyway, here’s the extent of what I’ve gathered over the last few days. Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson, Nate Robinson, Wilson Chandler and Lee have all stopped by the MSG Training Center in the last two weeks.

They even scrimmaged a little.

I can’t find anyone who’s seen Allan Houston on the premises. There have been reports of a possible comeback, but the former All-Star isn’t out there campaigning for a job.

After the way things ended here, I highly doubt Isiah Thomas would show any real interest.

I see Tim Donaghy is looking to give up the names of 20 NBA officials who’ve violated the league’s gambling policy before he’s sentenced. Unless they were betting on games in some fashion, I don’t want to know.

Which leads me to my favorite subject line from an e-mail I got this week from a PR official looking to sell books for a client, “Feature/Interview: Betting On The Horses Could Lead To Sleeping With The Fishes – An Inside Look At The Mafia And Sports …”

Catch up with you later.

I really wish they had some kind of robot officiating games because I’m tired of Super stars getting certain calls. I’m tired of Rookies not getting calls and I hate officiating done just to extend the game or try to keep it close. At least bring instant replay so some of these horrible calls can be rectified.

  2. Henry

I guess not much happening in Knick world. How much longer before we can start seeing what we can do with Dickua and Jones. I say buy them out, along with James and Rose and save some money on the luxury tax. Forget about Artest, roll with Q with a little Balkman and the two rookies at the three.

  3. Nixluva

I totally agree with Henry. Man we’ve got what we need on this roster already. We don’t need to go after Artest and all of his issues.

  4. Shareef

If we can keep Lee and get Ron, I say go for it!

  5. dan

If Q stays healthy he’s the same kind of player as Ron. However, I don’t see that happening. I like our young players but THE CELTICS GOT GARNETT!!! I’d like to see Ron with Balkman as the backup and Lee as sixth man of the year. I would not part with Jamal. If we can’t give Sac one of this years draft picks, the expiring contracts, and a pick next year, then I think Renaldo needs to go. Think about actually watching a game people. We need real bonafied two way players. I don’t care about personality issues as long as they play and practice hard, learn the play book, pass the ball, and HELP ON D!

  6. Henry

Okay, if you have to have Ron, then the move is Jefferies, Nate, Morris and a protected # 1 for Ron. Sacremento gets three nice potential young players plus a # 1. We free up roster spot for the kids. The salaries match up and we better do it quickly because Maimi making a move.

Don’t worry about Morris, he looks lazy, slow and short.

And if that’s not enough, which I think is a lot then the hell with Ron.

By the way I’ve seen this Boston quick fixes before they never work.

  7. Joe Mim

Yeah SuperJay, robots. That’s real reasonable

    Henry,
Garnett is not a quick fix. I’ve got to hand it to Ainge. He couldn’t get KG so he went out and got Ray Allen, everyone thought he was crazy, then KG thought about Pierce and Allen and the rest is history. History that is going to trump our corps, unless some people develop a long way in a hurry. I hope I’m wrong.
