Maybe it’s time for a new look
Apparently, even the judge is tired of hearing about the nonsense that allegedly went on behind the scenes at Madison Square Garden while Anucha Brown and Isiah Thomas were in the midst of a classic power struggle.
Check out this excerpt from the Associated Press:
” … After the jury of five women and three men left the courtroom, U.S. District Judge Gerard Lynch expressed exasperation that the case it taking longer than non-celebrity trials and asked the lawyers to speed things up. ‘I saw one juror nodding off this morning,’ the judge said.”
Nice.
Maybe they need to bring Stephon Marbury back for more tabloid details. Or a song.
This whole finger-pointing mess is making everyone involved look bad. And with that in mind, it probably wouldn’t hurt the blushing organization to put a new face on the franchise.
Regardless of the verdict, Marbury and Thomas need to lay low.
I vote for Eddy Curry, who’s been touted as the cornerstone of the franchise anyway. While the developing big man admittedly has a few issues to address in between the lines, he’s money with the media and the general public.
Curry is easy to like.

He rarely leaves a question unanswered. And the honesty is refreshing. Curry usually signs anything, even while he’s standing in the locker room in boxer shorts diffusing what could’ve been a very awkward moment. The smile is genuine. He seems more comfortable in the spotlight with each passing day.
Anybody have a better idea?
There are several good guys on the roster, but nobody else plays as big a role, so I think we need to see more of Curry this season. He’d look great on the cover of the media guide and in whatever marketing campaign the Knicks roll out to improve their season ticket base.
Heck, why not make the centerpiece a captain so he can really start throwing his weight around?
• The NBA reinstated veteran referee Joey Crawford today, which ups the league’s entertainment value. I’m all for characters blowing whistles and needling Tim Duncan, who is known to complain a little too much for somebody who ranks among the privileged few.
• My favorite column from the weekend comes from Rick Carpiniello, my Journal News colleague, who knows better than most what goes on in the backrooms at MSG. Take a minute and check it out. Let me know what you think.

Well, all this could explain why the Knicks’ transactions over the past few years have resembled those of the guy who gets too drunk at the Fantasy Football draft.
The bad deals and bad hires start at the top. Instead of ‘Fire Isiah’ or anything like that, why not cheer ‘Sell-the-Team’ this year?

Agree totally about Curry. I know it mostly counts what you do on the court and not off (or maybe not in this politically correct girl scout’s environment we’ve created). And while we certainly do an awful lot of focussing on what Curry doesn’t do well (defend, block shots), he is a pleasure to listen to. Always honest while being soft spoken.
I can’t believe we have to listen to all this dirty MSG laundry when we should be getting hyped up for a new season.

I agree Trains1. I would SO MUCH rather be focusing on how much of a turnaround we will see this year from the orange & blue. Unfortunately, like a car wreck, these details coming out are so disgusting I can’t help but look. At first, I didn’t care, and took it for the seedy entertainment on the backpages of most of our tabloids. But now as more and more details come out, I realize how truly heinous the MSG office environment (allegedly) was. Yes, innocent until proven guilty. I’ll wait.
and Mase, you might be on to something. Check out www.selltheknicks.com. Pretty funny hater site that is actually done by Knicks fans, just Dolan-haters.

Isiah will be found liable or not liable rather than guilty or not guilty.

Thanks Whoa, that’s what I meant. I think no matter which way this turns out, come December this will be mostly forgotten and the on-court product is all we will be talking about. Well, 95% of us. I’m sure most writers will bring it up after every Knicks loss this season (no offense Mike D, I’ve never put you in the disgraceful group of ‘most writers’).

Thanks. No offense taken. I’m thinking the trial will come up only when a writer is making a point about the mismanagement of the franchise. Dragging it up after every loss wouldn’t be fair.

Face of the Franchise:
Clyde Frazier…the only man in the building who’s actually won in NY.
Option B—David Lee. Doesn’t have the post presence of a Curry, but at least he rebounds and attempts to play D. Also, you’ll never associate the terms “disinterested” or “lethargic” with DLee…can the same be said for Curry?

Wow! not as much when a black man does it. Is that the reason we do not have any European players on this team. I like Isiah, but now I don’t know. Does this mean he give this guy more of a chance than this guy because…
I do not want the guy running my team having an agenda. I want the guy running my team to make his decision fairly, black or white.
Did we need a guy to start over D-Lee? Will Dickua get a fair chance to make the team? As many chances as Nate? Will we ever get a Dirk, Ginaobli, or a Nash on this team?
Please tell me he doesn’t think like that. PLEASE!

DARREN:
Thanks for informing us about this site.
MIKE DAUGHERTY:
First time here but a long time b.ball nut.
Hey, do you know when & where the annual NYK Open House practice/scrimmage is?
Kindly post it here if you have the details. I’ve called MSG to inquire to no avail.
I hope that you have filters here to block out profanities and any kind of inappropriate comments.

I don’t have any word yet on an open practice. I will check, but it’s still a little early. That is a huge day for the marketing department, which uses the practice to recruit ticket buyers, so they usually set it all up.
