Balkman will miss at least a month

September
27

Talk about starting the season on the wrong foot.

Renaldo Balkman is already in a walking boot. The energetic forward has what the Knicks are calling a stress reaction and small cartilage injury in his right ankle.

“We performed an MRI that located a stress reaction and injured cartilage,” director of player care Dr. Lisa Callahan said in a statement. “We will re-evaluate the healing process after four weeks of rest to decide how much longer it will take for Renaldo to be back on the court.”

In other words, future surgery has not been ruled out.

Now the Knicks are really hoping Quentin Richardson and Jared Jeffries bounce back in a big way.

Apparently, the ankle was becoming more and more of a nuisance recently. Balkman went back to South Carolina last weekend to promote the preseason opener in Columbia, then came home and met with a trainer.  It wouldn’t be reasonable to expect a return before the middle of November because even freak athletes like Balkman need a couple of weeks to get back in shape and up to speed.

What is Jeffries going to bounce back from? He stinks. Lee and Chandler, or even Nichols, should get the PT.

This is really bad news. Once again the Knicks will be stuck with no one who can guard the 3.

But, I hope it means that D-Knick and Chandler get some early minutes.

Let Jeffries rot on the bench.

Wow there are a lot of Idiots who are Knick fans out there!

Yeah Isiah signed someone for millions who can’t do anything!!! He just sucks!

Wow, you guys are soooo smart. Just because YOU dont know or understand what he could do or what the coach see’s in him or what the problems were last year, doesn’t mean he can’t play. If Isiah plays him it will be because he contributes something valuable to the time.

Try to have a little respect for people.

You know did it ever dawn on you that players don’t wanna play here or don’t do well here because of having to play for people like you!?

What did Jeffries ever do in Washington?
If he was so good, why wouldn’t the Wiz match an MLE offer, and instead rely on Jarvis Hayes, since departed.
JJ got his payday off of one playoff run during his contract year. A classic sucker move by Zeke.
Jeffries himself has admitted that his career thus far has been disappointing.

As a Knick fan I hope he has a turnaround. But he’s a decent defender, without a position, has no shot and can’t make a free throw. Occasionally he does a nice job of crashing the O boards, a skill not so much needed with Zach and Lee on the floor.

Wiz org. and Wiz fans were happy to see Jeffries go. Right after he was traded out, that’s what the papers said and that’s what most Wiz fans were posting in Wiz blogs.

Personally, I haven’t seen him do squat consistently. He had a couple of decent games and a couple of goods games for NYK last season. Besides that, nothing else.
