A very polite response

October

I don’t know if anybody saw NBA commissioner David Stern on ESPN last night, but he was asked how the sexual harassment fiasco in any way spoke to the state of the Knicks franchise.

Just so you know, Stern doesn’t waste time hiding emotions.

“It demonstrates that they’re not a model of intelligent management,” Stern said. “There were many checkpoints along the way where more decisive action would have eliminated this issue.”

Wow.

I don’t know about you, but where I come from that’s deserving of two shots and the ball. Where is Dick Bavetta when you need him?

Naturally, we solicited a response today at practice.

Steve Mills just happened to be standing in the gym, but a request to speak with the president of MSG sports was denied. I even said please. Isiah Thomas was not allowed to address the subject in a direct manner, either.

Instead, they gave us a very brief statement from ownership.

“We have high regard for the commissioner,” MSG chairman James Dolan said. “Right now, what we can all agree on is the best thing for the Knicks is to get on the court and win some basketball games.”

Darn.

This had the potential to become an entertaining tussle.

Dont throw rocks when you live in a glass house… Stern has to be careful what he says because he obviously wasnt up to date with the rules governing refs gambling and he had one “rogue” ref gambling on games. I really dont get him and his execs underneath him. They start shaping up their image b/c they feel they are loosing money from a particular market to enhance an image and then bang… You got mob ties to your untouchables on the court. He is a joke

I agree if Stern wants to punish Dolan for Isiah and Marburys scandelous words to Annucha than Stern needs to be suspended by the NBA board of governors for the refs betting scandal.

What Mr. Stern said in and of itself is on the mark and like it or not does have validity. Most of the people who own sports teams are not qualified, their just rich and don’t have anything better to do with their money. Mr. Stern’s statement could apply to many team owners for one reason or another. The problem here is that the Knick ‘hatin press just hangs on EVERY ngeative Knick statement and gives us all sensational 18 point headlines everytime someone says something negative about the team in their obvious attempt to get us to hate Isiah and the Knicks as much as they do. When I did read about it, I see like 2 off the cuff sentences that were uttered by Mr. Stern, who will say pretty much ANYTHING to take our minds off of the cheating refs. Big Whoop.
