Before they hand out the rings …
I know. I know. All of you excited Knicks fans will have to find other ways to occupy yourselves until Friday’s tipoff in Cleveland.
Who knows why the schedule worked out that way.
The Bobcats, Hawks, Timberwolves, Celtics, and Clippers have to wait, too.
For the record, the NBA sets up the schedule. Individual teams make it easy or hard on the league to set up the slate based on the availability of their respective arenas. For example, the Knicks hit the road every April for at least a week. There’s no way around it because the Garden is hosting the circus.
Anyway, here’s what you can do before they hand out the rings tonight in San Antonio, if you’ve already made a prediction about the upcoming Knicks season, give me your NBA Finals match up.
Let’s say the Spurs will top the Pistons in a six-game series that will establish new ratings lows.
Your turn. Have fun.
Oh yeah, scroll down to vote in the latest starting lineup poll.

Phoenix Suns in five games over – wait for it – the Chicago Bulls, who will acquire Kobe but blow up the chemistry by the trading deadline.

Houston over Orlando. Why not?

Mavs – Heat rematch. This time the Mavs take it in 7 games.
The east is better top to bottom but I don’t see any of the elite teams as having gotten better except that the Celtics now have a chance to join that group. Anyway, a healthy Shaq and Wade give the Heat checkmate over the rest of the conference.
As to the west, you could really substitute the Suns or the Spurs in place of the Mavs. Dirk is somewhat Arod-esque in a big spot but Dallas was the best team in the regular season last year, so they get the nod.
Do you think Kobe feels remorse for getting rid of Shaq at this point? He’s Arod-esque in terms of the me first attitude. I don’t see either of them winning anything meaningful in the near future. There’s no room for other team mates when their big heads (and contracts) are all that fit into the locker room. Nothing would make me happier than seeing both of them retire without a championship.

Correction:
Kobe, of course has three championships but none in which he was the team leader.

believe it or not, The Cav’s will not even make the playoffs. NY and Boston leapfrog them into the playoffs.
Phoenix loses out on their chance for revenge against the Spurs being once against matched up against the Mavs but, lose this time. Dirk get his validation by gutting Pho almost singlehandedly in game 7 only to once again choke big time against the Spurs.

Nykal…The Cavs are in. Lebron willed them to the finals last year MJ style (29 of the last 30 points?!?!? SICK!!!). He owned the pistons last year, the Wiz the year before that, and he’s only gotten better.
Knicks take 6th seed in the east. Evryone is forgetting that the knicks were actually in the playoffs last year briefly. Then EVERYONE got injured.
Hawks take kings in the finals in Five. (haha)

I believe that the knicks will make the playoffs this year no matter what… they will go 48 and 32. knicks will play defense this year.. knicks will be the biggest surprise in the east besides boston celtic’s. everyone is sleeping on the knicks this year and I gurantee you whe april comes knicks will be in the playoffs and they will go to the 2nd round and that will make me happy. as long as we go to the palyoffs i will be happy for knicks fans. as all knicks fans know that we are unpredictiable so no one want to face the knicks in the playoffs. here comes the knicks and i cant wait till fridat tipoff…. this week looks like the longest week in my life since the season starts tonight and we have 2 more days of practice and then friday we start to play… knicks will go 4-1 when they start the season on friday. they will beat cavs on the road and win on sunday against timberwolfs and then they will beat denver nuggests but loos to orlando or miami… but thier record will be good when they start… they will 10-3 in november… good luck knicks fans.

Because, the Cav’s are the only team not to significantly improve among those in and on the bubble of a playoff spot. Arguable, the Cav’s overacheived ala the 99Knicks.
I seriously doubt lightning strikes twice for them without a significant upgrade of their roster. Booby….can anyone say Troy Hudson. Made his name in the playoffs but, never put those numbers up again. Same with Jerome (big snacks) James who while in Seattle had 1 excellent playoff series and then took the rest of the decade off.
Plus, Hughes likes to take half the year off. Who’s their backup point. Snow?? You see why I don’t see them going far.

here it is folks:
First my finals predictions:
Pheonix v. Celtics
Pheonix wins it in 6.
Cavs: not making the playoffs (i think all the reasons have been stated already. see above);
Heat: Come playoff time “superman” will be sitting at home. Riley, is old and it shows so i am not sure he has the conviction he once did, WIthout Wade and Shaq the rest of the team is not so good and do any of us really expect Shaq to play even most of the season. Shaq always comes into the season out of shape and requires the first quarter of the season to get back into NBA mode and then he spends anywhere from another quarter of the season to half the season injured or in some sort of pain, Wade can’t do it on his own;
Nets: make playoffs (god, i can’t believe i just put that in writing);
Pistons: do what they always do, but not as well this year;
Cetics: start season out slow but by january they’ll be full throttle and beating up on just about everyone in the east except for the pistons, the Nets, and, dare i say it the Knicks. they’ll be the number one seed in the east;
Washington: makes the playoffs but is seeded at the bottom end. they have a good team but i just don’t have faith in anyone but Arenas and maybe Butler.
Toronto: LAst year was impressive but with the CEltics improving mightily and the Knicks improving moderately they wont repeat their performance;
Philadelphia: not making it; No body on that team inspiures confidence.
Indiana: makes the playoffs and gets a pretty high seed.
Chicago: makes playoffs and is seeded high. This team is pretty damn good. (of course if they get Kobe at some point I reserve the right to change my predictions.)
Miluwakee: wow i even forgot they had a team; but no they aint making it.
Atlanta: hahahah
Orlando: gonna make the playoffs but will find out that Rashard Lewis aint all that.(paid way too much for Rashard Lewis, but being that i am a Knicks fan i dont think i should talk.)
Knicks: Suprise team of the NBA. start out slow, but will at some point work it out and be the one team no one wants to see in the playoffs. And yes, they will make the playoffs. This team is the deepest and most talented Knick team we have seen in a long while. IF they learn to play defense i think they can make a run at 50 wins. LETS GO KNICKS!!!
