Jamal Crawford’s Giving Tree

December
12

A couple of years ago, when the folks at Family Services of Westchester needed help affecting more needy children during the holidays, somebody uttered these famous words …

“If we had a nickel for every crazy shot Jamal Crawford takes in a season, the world would be a happier place.

Well, maybe that’s not how it really happened.

Crawford is teaming with Family Services of Westchester for the second year in a row, and you can help, too. He will be at The Westchester in White Plains on Sunday between 2-4 p.m.

He’s running a Giving Tree event.

You fulfill a wish and leave with an autograph. Simple. You fulfill three wishes and you get some Knicks tickets, as well, but only while supplies last. The goal is to pile up gifts for 400 kids.

I went last year, Jamal does a really nice job meeting and greeting. And what goes on behind the scenes is even better. He took six especially lucky kids on a shopping spree last year, and made certain they left with clothes or toys Santa wasn’t able to leave under the tree.

(Crawford also told siblings who tagged along to pick any sneakers they wanted in FootLocker, but I’m not supposed to tell anyone.)

Also, if you’re coming to a Knicks game this week, bring new school supplies. The Garden of Dreams foundation is collecting them and some of the players will be distributing them to foster care agencies and homeless shelters next month.
