Marbury takes a night off

January
13

Stephon Marbury is not expected to play tonight because of a sore left ankle.

The issue apparently popped up on Friday right after he admitted to having a difficult time adjusting to a more passive role. I believe the controversial playmaker mentioned he did not earn a max contract playing the game they way Isiah Thomas is drawing it up.

Hmmm.

Marbury did not practice yesterday, but somehow that never came up. He was off the court in a hurry, too.

I’m thinking it’s not going to end well.

Thomas was asked to respond to the Marbury comments before the game, and provided another cryptic message.

“I only want to comment and talk about tonight’s game,” he said. “He’s not playing tonight, so we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it if he decides to play again.”

Did you catch that if?

Read it back slow.

” … we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it if he decides to play again.”

Hmmm.

Fred Jones will start in place of Marbury, which lets Nate Robinson and David Lee come off the bench and provide a jolt after the Knicks fall into a double-digit rut.

Listening to Isiah “if he decides to play for us again…”

    He’s not injured. He’s AWOL.

Maybe Starbury can be fired for breach of contract, like Larry Brown. Then we all can move on, and maybe Marbury will find himself playing in Italy, finally.
