Grinding to a halt

Did anybody happen to catch Eddy Curry blow a defensive assignment in the second quarter and give Kwame Brown a walk-up dunk?

As he strolled into the ensuing timeout, Isiah Thomas was glaring and several teammates were calling the big man out. Accountability. We haven’t seen a lot of that so far this season.

Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson deserved an earful, as well, for the shots they launched in the last five minutes that brought the offense to a complete standstill. Each time they had the ball in the last five minutes, the Knicks moved their feet like they were playing defense.

You can laugh. That’s a joke.

• Based on the body language, the Knicks are going to need to pull out two wins in the next three games to prevent further damage to some already fragile psyches. It’s awfully difficult to play that hard without getting some positive results.

• Nate Robinson, Renaldo Balkman, Eddy Curry, David Lee and Jared Jeffries were on the floor. Kobe Bryant was taking a breather. And the Knicks were still playing zone. Why? That lineup has to play man-to-man.

Isiah has to take some hits for last night game (if it really matters). Playing Zone, and then putting Eddy in late in the game after he was sitting forever. On one play down the strength he got out rebound by Kobe on the offensive end and stood still while Odom blew right by him for a dunk.

Eddy is a bum but I do not want J Kidd for him. I’ll take Kawame Brown for him at least Kawame comes of the books at year end. No more aging superstars please.

If I remember correctly, it was Clyde Frazier who said that he had never seen anyone get called out as coldly as Curry did after that defensive breakdown in the second quarter. Accountability. Toughness. I love it.

What showed last night was that Curry is a defensive liability. Why is he still so out of shape? It’s almost February and he looks like he’s ready for the 4th of July hot dog eating contest at Cony Island. What is the deal here? What does this guy eat? Where are the coaches?

Yeah, I was comparing Curry’s stats to Bynums after the last couple of threads and, indeed, Curry is having a nightmare season. 5.1 boards, .48 blocks, 27 minutes, yuck!
It’s like a twilight zone episode. Most 7 footers control a game with their mere presence. It’s just absurd, ridiculous, unfair, (insert descriptive word here) that we get maybe the worst defensive center statistically in league history. I’d actually like to look that up. To make matters worse, he is a gifted athlete! This is not Shawn Bradley, but we’d probably be better off with Shawn Bradley.

In his defense, our coaching is terrible and our roster redundant. Zach has had a catastrophic effect on his game. He needs more minutes and more touches. This might bring him out of his stupor. Meanwhile he brought it on himself.

    Thanks BARF

Your input is always welcome, and I’m flatterred that it comes across as a practical trade suggestion to you.

I suggested that a 1rst round draft pick from the Mavs and a 2nd rounder from the Knicks would be involved.

But, heck, if a 1rst rounder from the Knicks would help get Sean Williams instead of Josh Boone in return, I’d gladly do it if I were Zeke.

The interesting thing is that the Mavericks are very much interested in acquiring Kid but it seems that a third party would be needed since the Mavs are unwilling to give up certain players. Thus it appears that there is an opportunity for the Knicks to get involved in the Jason Kidd sweepstakes but to do so in an ancillary manner where they could acquire players who address their current defficiencies- veteran backup PG, and rebounding and shot blocking.

Again if a 1rst rounder from both us and the Mavs would get that deal done I would do it if I were Zeke!

    Just Bloggin!
