Dare we say consistent?

January
31

What do you say?

I suppose it would be fair to question the lack of execution. Take care of the ball and sink a couple free throws and the outcome might be different.

On the upside, it’s not a stretch to say the Knicks are finally developing an identity. The chemistry is a little off, but they seem to be trying.

Is that enough?

Getting far enough under the cap to chase a name for the marquee is going to require putting up with more games like this for the next couple of seasons.

Can you deal with more games like the first three of this road trip?

• Renaldo Balkman probably deserved the suspension. Throwing an elbow in the open court that far away from the basket was silly. He is the kind of play fans fall in love with, but the wannabe stopper needs to start getting better.

• No peeking. When the last time the Knicks won a road game against a Western Conference opponent?

• Zach Randolph is heading back to Portland to use the visitor’s locker room for the first time. He ought to check in with Stephon Marbury first, and get some advice on how to answer probing questions about the sudden improvement of a former team that decided to move in a new direction.

It’s like a recurring nightmare, and I didn’t realize that we also gave away an unprotected first rounder in 2010, as the Salt Lake City Tribune so sensitively reminded us. Isiah has just destroyed this franchise.

Meanwhile, I will STILL SUPPORT THIS TEAM and hope we can show some improvement. They can, and really need to, get better with what they have, because it’s a longshot that other teams will help us get cap space. NBA GMs are vultures. Do you think Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge or anyone else of that generation is going to want to help out the king of the bad boy Pistons? What about Geaorge Karl or anyone who is friends with Larry Brown or Lenny Wilkins. Maybe Laimbeer or Spider Salley will get a GM job.

I think another problem this team has is that we inspire confidence in our opponents. Okur hit just a preposterous turn around jumper over Zach early in the first half. People play free and easy against us based on our reputation. They know we don’t block shots. They know we turn it over.

Meanwhile guys, prove me wrong, I’m begging you.

Davonn Jefferson where are you? Still thinking Eastern Conference Finals?
