Something to be grateful for
So for several minutes before the game, Isiah Thomas fielded all kinds of questions about what went on in the hours leading up to yesterday’s trade deadline.
It gets weirder and weirder.
Seriously. These are the kinds of comments that are difficult to follow up with an intelligent question because you’re so absolutely stunned at the words you’re scribbling into the notebook.
“I think the most important thing is we didn’t take a step back,” Thomas said. “We didn’t try to save the day with that one savior, bad contract that goes on for a lifetime. It’s a tough position that we’re in right now, but I still believe that we’re headed in the right direction.â€?
Swear to God.
Thomas is well known in this league for overpaying. Of course, he believes the Knicks only have one bad contract on the books right now—Stephon Marbury.
Really. I have that on my digital recorder, too.
“We only have one big contract,” Thomas said. “That’s Marbury’s contract. Zach’s contract for the way he produces, is justified and he’s played well for us. Other than that, mostly everyone else is in the $5 to $8 million range. And the players that are performing for us on a nightly basis, some of them aren’t even making $2 or $3 million.”
There’s a couple more, but that would be like piling on.

KNICKS WON!!!!!!!!!!

Isiah needs to step up and state that Eddie Curry is not earning the money he makes.

Wow. He’s gone if they don’t make the playoffs. Now we just have to hope IT doesn’t; devalue our players, stall the inevitable transition to the next GM and/or encourage corporate behavior that results in legal action… anymore than he possibly has so far.

The Knicks will end up with the 8th pick in the NBA draft. They can’t even lose right and they wont. Teams are catching up to them and they will soon drop out of the top 5 worst records in the league and end the season with their patented 33 wins. Better yet? Isiah Thomas will retain his job.
Everybody get on your feet and celebrate!

Mike – it must be fun for you guys to listen to the Isiah’s delusional beliefs day in and day out right? :)
Taking about bad contracts?
Why didn’t he mention the $12 mil that his unwarranted sexual advances cost MSG instead of Marbury’s $20mil contract
Or why didn’t he mention the $30 mil contract he gave Jerome James who hasn’t played one significant game for the knicks since he came here?
Please someone get this delusional idiot off of our team…

The James and Jeffries contracts aren’t bad contracts?
Seriously, is and any of the Knicks beat reporters can sit there with a straight face and listen to this day after day is beyond me. How can someone as delusional as IT continue to be running an NBA franchise?
I’ve blasted Mills and Dolan here before, but they’re businessmen with their eyes on the bottom line. That’s fine, and perhaps as it should be. Putting together the team and preparing them for each game is IT’s responsibility and he fails so spectacularly at this day after day that it’s hard to believe the evidence of my own eyes.
Marbury’s contract is the only bad contract on the team. What reality is this guy living in?

Sorry guy’s, to some this may be getting off the subject of bashing the knicks but I am a hardcore fan and so my focus is to make my viewing of the game as enjoyable as possible,
Very difficult when Clyde is at the helm. His coverage of the Knicks is absolutely Off Balance. He does a fair job of pretending to be equally critical to both teams but his analysis, if heard objectively is geared towards belitering the Knicks and downplaying any positive signs of a victory. What I have noticed is that if the Knicks have a very little chance of winning a game his coverage of them is more kind. However, if as the game progresses, if the Knicks start to turn it around and have a chance to become victorious, his coverage will become more and more off balance. I mean really, when have you seen Clyde reply a knick spectacular move to the basket twice in one replay. Also, when the co-announcer mentioned that he thought Nate was fouled when pushed off court into an opponent and the ref, Clyde did not acknowledge his comment. He totally stayed off that subject, but when Zach accidently poked Bosh in the eye a few minutes later, a foul much less obvious, almost impossible to notice, he replays it a few times followed by a replay after the commercial of Isaiah disputing an unrelated call. Now if your reading this and have not watched the game you might notice him mention some calls that did not go the Knicks way but only because there were so many. The refs gave bad calls in both directions but the Knicks got the worse of it.
Towards the end when Nate was about to make some foul shot’s , notice how Clyde tried to set the stage by mentioning that Zach just missed two foul shots with no pressure on him , because they were winning by 4 points, as if there losing record wasn’t enough pressure. It appears he thought Nate would miss but he did not. Clyde is always focusing on the negative. No other announcer does it like him. Compare his replays to Gus Johnson’s or the other analysis, Clyde’s is the worse.
Isaiah and Dolan are here to stay, to make the game more pleasurable FIRE CLYDE! He’s A BOOO GENERATOR A FAN BUSTER.

I’ll say this, Clyde has very high standards. He was the catalyst on a team that is noted for playing the right way. He knows how it should work. Also, he’s in a tough spot. Clyde is too negative when he points out the obvious, and too much an MSG cheerleader when he ignores the flaws. This is a bad team right now. There’s no other way to call it.
February 23rd, 2008 at 2:24 pm
I doubt if anyone ever accused Clyde of ignoring the flaws. I’ve been watching the Knicks since the Patrick days.
His coverage lately has not been as bad as; let’s say before the Knicks recent 3 game winning streak but still bad. I think Gus Johnson, Mike, Kenny, Al all have the same responsibility that he does and do it much better.
If you just compare their replays during the game, the ones who have control of it, to his you will see the difference. Clyde usually glamorizes the opponent’s moves to the basket,
he’ll even let the replay play longer than necessary to show the opponent mocking the Knicks. The others do not do that. The last game he showed Bosh making a dunk twice in one instance. I mean if he’s holding back his love for the Knicks, you will never ever ever ever know it. It’s ok to be constructive in your criticism, but do it in a fair and balance way. Go back to after the three game winning streak if you can and watch his coverage with an open mind. He’s the first to mention any hint of boos in the audience. Before that 3 game winning streak all his dishing and swishing remarks was reserved for the opponent. I’ve seen many of Crawford’s moves overlooked by him. Usually the co-host is the first to weigh in on any good moves the Knicks make. When Gus is covering the game his reaction to any spectacular move a player makes towards the basket regardless of team is instantaneous not lackadaisical when it comes to the home team.
If Clyde’s fear is that he will be ridiculed for being a Knick fan, than his coverage will always be unbalanced and he should step down.

I’ve been absent because I was sick.
Fire Clyde? Please. Is this what things have come to?
Maybe if you wish hard enough, Marv Albert will magically reappear also.
How about hoping the Knicks play defense, that’s something worthwhile.

Play defense. I will relay that to the Knicks ASAP. We should be OK from now on.
