So long Steph?

We’ve got some catching up to do.

The silent treatment is the result of me switching over to help cover the Section 1 high school basketball tournament in Westchester for a couple of days. I’m back in the loop, tonight, however.

It’s where players like Elton Brand, Ben Gordon, Mark Blount and Hilton Armstrong first stepped into the spotlight.

For some reason most of the people I’ve spoken with up there felt compelled to inform me they could no longer bring themselves to watch the Knicks.

I suppose that explains the declining MSG ratings.

Anyway, there was plenty of pregame entertainment here tonight when Isiah Thomas responded to a question about what he’s hoping to get from Nate Robinson going forward into a less-than-cryptic message.

â€Å“Going into next season, we’re still going to need another guard,” he said. “There’s certain things that Nate and Jamal are extremely good at, but to have them do it for 48 minutes a night, you still need a third guard to kind of come in and help with some ball-handling and do some other things. And Fred has done a good job. But we need to get better back there.â€?

Um, what about Stephon Marbury?

“Let’s talk about the Bobcats,” a nervous Thomas said. “Can I get a question about the Bobcats.”

Too late.

So, what about Marbury?

“Let’s discuss next year when this year is over,” Thomas said. “In the summer, all of you guys will be here and there’ll be plenty of time to talk about it. I’ll be around. You can ask and answer all those questions about next year. But right now, this year isn’t over for us by a long shot.â€?

Don’t get me started.

    I hate this team.

Yeah, but these days infamy and fame are some times hard to tell apart. If you can’t be the best then be the worst (only a team this bad will be this bad then not get a good lottery pick).

Isiah’s quote of the day – “I’ll be around” – Just not with the knicks franchise lol
Colangelo is going to come in and clean up the royal mess you created.

Mike, wondering if you could corroborate the report that the Knicks may bring in Kiki as GM and leave Isiah as coach next season. First, why would any incoming GM want to be saddled with a coach who has so clearly lost his team?

Second, and perhaps this is just the personification of a fan with no real insight into the inner workings of the franchise, is it possible that this truly is a money issue for Dolan, and he won’t part ways with Isiah simply to justify last year’s extension? With the buyout to Brown and the Garden losing the sexual harrasment suit, is Dolan simply unwilling to eat another contract, no matter what is happening to the team on the floor or with the ratings on the MSG network?

Seems counterintuitive that you would try to save money by further devaluing your product.

Hopefully Isaih will not be in the decision making when it comes to Marburry. Marburry & Malik have a lot of value. Hold on to them until next year trading dead line. If a disgruntle YOUNG superstar shows up next year, a team looking to unload him and clear up cap, will have use for Marburry or Malik. Other than that let them come off the books. Do not buy them out.

These are decision Isiah is not qualified to make. He’s upset with Marburry, he’s not thinking clearly. He would like to banish Marburry when he has more value than ever. Get rid of Isiah.
