Nothing to say

March
19

Isiah Thomas might be getting backed up to a wall, but he isn’t going to give the Knicks ammunition.

There wasn’t a single attempt to engage the organization today despite reports indicating James Dolan is already making the rounds, looking for a replacement.

Who knows, maybe he won’t get fired.

It doesn’t sound like anything will happen until the end of the season, but what if the Knicks bring in somebody like Donnie Walsh for the next makeover? Does anybody have a problem with Thomas being kept on the payroll?

Think about it for a second. Think like the jilted party in a divorce proceding.

Dolan already wrote an $11.5 million check to Annucha Browne Sanders and owes Thomas another $16 million. Maybe he won’t be coming down the hall with a pink slip. Thomas could be retained and be forced to scout.

It would keep him tied up for the next three years unless he’s willing to negotiate a buyout.

Isiah’s ego is far too big to “just be a scout.”

this is a guy that doesn’t believe he’s made any bad moves in his life. With regard to Jordan, Magic and Bird, Isiah says “I’m the only player on earth who can say I got the best of them in their prime.”

so I think going from the guy who is in charge of everything in new york, to the guy who scouts kids, Isiah will feel that is beneath him, and I’m glad too because he has not earned the right to keep a job with the New York Knicks.

I almost feel bad for Isiah. But then I think of how much money he’s been getting and is going to get.

It makes me want to declare, here for the first time in public, that I would like Mr. Dolan to know that I am available for the job. If it’s another non-playoff, losing season with little hope for a future and one of the highest payrolls I could do at least the same as Mr. Thomas for a fraction of the cost. I can be had for a mere million. And it can be a one-year contract.

Come on, Jim. Give me a chance!

There is little to no benefit in keeping Isiah around in any capacity. First of all, the Knicks need an image makeover and they need to purge themselves of all or most of their publicity problems. Isiah is a major PR problem. Even if he is now in the background he still has ties to the organization and he will still be a story.

Secondly, I wouldn’t trust Isiah and his ego after being demoted to a scout. What benefit does it give him to perform well at that point? It’s better to do a poor job, get fired and take your money and move on.

Best thing for all parties involved (including us fans) is to end this marriage completely. Just my 2 cents.

Having IT around makes perfect sense… if you think like Dunceolan. I forget who but someone in the Nixon administration once wrote a memo on how to get rid of employees without firing them (example: hand a family man a bunch of plane tickets and tell him he’ll be traveling to nowhere forever if he doesn’t resign). Dunceolan could pull similar stunts (I hear there’s a potential point guard in Southern Sudan, Isiah why don’t you check it out). The problem with this approach is it’s bad from a PR perspective and word gets around that you’re incompetent and an anus to boot. However, Dunceolan doesn’t have to worry about this perception getting out there, it’s already well known. I bet they have a long protracted fight that results in Dunceolan paying 95% of what he owes directly to IT and 25% of what he owes to lawyers. People don’t change, not when they’re under pressure.
