The silent treatment

We’re not likely to get a response today from Isiah Thomas.

To keep the masses at bay, the Knicks have cancelled this morning’s practice. God knows the actual scrimmage time isn’t doing a lot of good anyway. So we’ll spend the day working the phones and piece a story together.

In the mean time, here’s a what if to consider …

What if Thomas realized he would never get another job in the league unless this mess gets cleaned up? What if he went to Knicks owner Jim Dolan and asked for help? What if he’s the person who suggested getting Donnie Walsh, a trusted friend?

It’s a pretty good plan that buys time if nothing else. Of course, it’s just speculation and sets up an ugly divorce if things don’t work out in short order.Should the organization bring Thomas back as head coach, nobody is going to have more than five minutes of patience if the Knicks struggle again next season.

Anyway, chime in on the details we know so far.

    Geez Jim,
Get it over with already. Now, you’re going behind Isiah’s back and talking to other GMs. This situation is so beyond ridiculous. For more than a season (some would say way more) you have been ignoring the wishes of your core fans. Now, amazingly, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, because no punishment seems too harsh, you are not being fair to Isiah. The press is not going to stop asking questions that are going to make him squirm. Get him out of there, now. Get an interim person to run the team and get your new coach and GM by draft day. PLEASE END THIS THING ALREADY!!!!!

Isiah must be completely removed from the Knicks if they are to finally improve.

The enemy to Knicks progress has a name.

    That name is Isiah Thomas.

While I am ecstatic to see Isiah go, I am disgusted that the Knicks seem to be pouncing on the first available candiate without completely exploring their options.

Even with Isiah’s ousting, this is not a symbol of change. This is a symbol of things staying just as backwards and idiotic as they have been. Dolan cannot do a single thing right. Its disgusting.

Make Isiah finish the season, conduct your interviews in May, when all candidates will be known, and have your GM/President in place by draft day. Then get your new coach. This is the LOGICAL way to do it.

F-in Knicks. Even good news sucks.

Like most Knick fans, I’m looking foward to a change from the dysfunctional circus that we have now. But, if it is not done right, it will just make matters even worse. Ownership is the real issue here. However, you can’t do anything about that. Dolan is not selling the team. Why would he? The thing that you guys seem to gloss over here is that the Knicks are a money making machine. Even with the horrible record. Even with the buyout after buyout. Even being way, way, way over the salary cap. Yes, even being the laughingstock of the league, the Knicks are one of the most wealthy teams. Until that changes, the soap opera will continue. Why screw with “success”? There is a story there and it needs to be reported on.
