Cut up the confetti

April
14

Isiah Thomas finished up the last home shoot-around of the season without acknowledging he might not return to the sidelines next season, but no matter what happens when the seasons ends, he doesn’t want to let go.

Again, there were several references to a brighter future.

“I want to be part of the parade,” Thomas said. “Good things are going to happen here and I want to be a part of it.”

By now, he and Donnie Walsh have no doubt begun to discuss what happened this season. It’s no secret. Walsh is being fair about this and giving everyone a chance to voice their side of the story. It’s going to make a good book someday.

A reflective Thomas did give the fans a pat on the fanny.

“They’ve been great to us this year,” he said. “I thought the first half of the season, there were some very unusual and unique circumstances we had to deal with as a franchise, as players and coaches and everything else. But our fans stuck with us and we appreciate them, we definitely appreciate them.”

And their money.

Somehow, the Knicks have managed to sell out eight of their final 10 games.

“I honestly love the way they’ve supported our team through these difficult times, and our franchise through these difficult times,” Thomas added. “There’s a certain aspect of losing that really, really sucks. The fans have a right to voice when it sucks, because we’re in the locker room voicing that, too. But if this is the worst it could possibly be, then the best in New York has got to be heaven.”

    Hey Mike,
Maybe the season has been fun to cover but listening to Isiah’s remarks must be growing old. He is so far from reality. Like these comments here, I don’t expect him to rip on the fans, but he just seems like such a sycophant. Give me a break. If he could get a GM job anywhere else right now he would do it in a second. He’s a complete fake and I’m praying he gets bought out and goes far away.

Isiah’s time here is done. Let him be fired tomorrow so that we can finally close the book on this reign of terror. I’m more focused on what is to come. I’m looking foward to the offseason so that the monumental task of fixing the NYK can begin. It should provide enough hot stove talk to keep you busy the whole off-season Mike. The banter should be fun.
