Mike D'Antoni doesn't do defense. That is the most glaring whole on the Knicks.

Avery Johnson seems more loud than anything else. He has a wonderful roster and still was terrible in the playoffs.

At this point, why not give Jackson a chance? While the Knicks re-work and rebuild their roster, why not bring in some old time Knicks to excite the fan base while also teaching some KNICK PRIDE to these kids on the team?
Mark Jackson as head coach. Get a good old x&o guy, but also throw in the likes of Ewing, Clyde Frazier and Willis Reed?

Sergio makes a good point. With it now looking likely that D'Antoni will end up in Chicago, or failing that, Toronto and withCarlisle joining the Mavs, why would any high-profile accomplished coach want to come to the Knicks?

It's a terribly mismatched roster with tons of holes and they're in salary cap hell. Not to mention signing up for the Dolan Family Circus.

That brings us back to Jackson, a rookie looking for his first shot at the big chair. I appreciate Walsh going out and performing his due dillegence, but I can't see anyone signing on here if they have better options elsewhere.

Mike: any work on whether the Knicks will be interviewing Avery Johnson?

And it's sad that the media will not bash Donnie Walsh for hiring Mark Jackson over 3 Coach of the Year winners in Mike D'Antoni, Rick Carlisle and Avery Johnson.

If Jackson is such a great coach, why aren't teams lining up to hire him?

I don't want Mike D'Antoni but it has nothing to do with how he fits with THESE players. In fact, you should not hire a coach to fit with THESE players.

David Lee and Jamal Crawford are the only ones who would benefit from going up tempo? What about Nate Robinson, Wilson Chandler, Stephon Marbury, and Renaldo Balkman?
