Johnson is next?

May
6

Unless there are some wild cards, Donnie Walsh has gotten to just about everyone on the list.

It sounds like Avery Johnson will get a meeting this week.

And if Walsh comes away impressed, he’s going to have to move in a hurry because it sounds like Phoenix will be very interested.

There just are not many known candidates out there clamoring to jump into the game. Mark Jackson remains the favorite, although he can’t be thrilled about Walsh traveling about the country to speak with competitors if he stated a desire to coach in New York and presented a thoughtful game plan.

Mike D’AntoniĀ  is apparently sold on Chicago.

What does that say about the situation here? The roster is such a mess he’d rather pin his future to Luol Deng, Ben Gordon and Andres Nocioni.

Ben Gordon is better than anyone on the Knicks. I’d take the Chicago job over NY also [if i weren’t so personally biased]

    Thibodeau?

    Ewing?

Who cares what D’antoni thinks about the knicks job. He’s wrong for it anyway. Avery is the key… he’s still young… he doesnt go by a “system” and he preaches D. Stop worrying about what the rest of the league thinks and just focus on the job. Sign Avery… trade Z-bo or Curry… and get some defensive minded players to compliment the young ones.

FYI, the last message was not mine. Verify it with the email if you want Mike.

I like the way Donnie is taking his time. I definitely want to make the right choice.

Can anyone tell me where the whole Mark Jackson thing came from. How did he become the leading candidate? As to the whole, bring back the Knicks from the good old days idea, they never won a championship in the 90’s either. Phil Jackson is that missing link. Maybe Bill Bradley wants to coach.

I do like Avery and someone (Sergio?) pointed out, correctly, that pushing a team from 50 to 67 wins is impressive. Still, I’m worried that this roster is going to make any coach look bad and that good coaches know that.
