Jordan to stop for a visit

June
18

The list of prospects stopping by the MSG Training Center tomorrow morning has been released, and there isn’t much to get excited about. If the Knicks are up for a project, DeAndre Jordan is the name you have to focus on.

He’s a 7-footer who’s only 19 years old.

From what I saw of Jordan he’s got all kinds of athletic ability, but he’s not fundamentally sound. He’s also going to get pushed around for a couple of years in the NBA, so don’t label him the second coming of Marcus Camby just yet.

Here’s the list:

  • Antoine Agudio (senior G, 6-3, 190, Hofstra)

  • Gary Ervin (senior G, 6-0, 182, Arkansas)

  • Dante Milligan (senior F, 6-9, 215, Massachusetts)

  • DeAndre Jordan  (freshman C, 7-0, 260, Texas A&M)

  • Mike Taylor (junior G, 6-2, 165, Iowa State/NBA D-League)

  • Vladimir Golubovic (C, 7-0, 225, Serbia)

What a waste of time with this workout.

Take the big freshman. The Knicks itinerary for the next three years looks like this:
    year 1 – suck
    year 2 – suck a little less
year 3 – try not to suck enough for the BKLN Nets to take over the town.
Let the kid grow, maybe at some point Ewing jumps on board and teaches somebody something. Maybe the Knicks and the kid(s) mature at the same pace and develope into a passable ball squad.

Leave those other bums alone. They’re still in college ball/D-League for a reason.

Oh, and what’s it gonna be Mr. Dougherty? DeAndre Hall or DeAndre Jordan? I don’t see a “Hall” in your “list of prospects stopping by”.

  4. Sunil

    He meant DeAndre Jordan.

  5. Mike Dougherty

My bad. That should teach me not to multi-task.

If you like Eddy Curry and Jerome James, you’ll love DeAndre Jordan. *puke

I’ve had enough of these athletic, lazy and dumb big guys. Jordan is no Dwight Howard.

It’s Russell Westbrook or D.J. Augustin for me.

Mike- I would rather have Javale McGee over Jordan any day. As athletic and fundamentaly sound. He has the potential to be a top 10 center in the NBA some day. trade for another top 10 pick and take Anthony Randolph at #6, and take McGee the with the pick we traded for.

I’m starting to like Alexander from WVA more and more. Thumbs down on Jordan. If people are questioning the guy’s motor I say pass. We need people who care and will work every day to get better. D.J. Augustin sounds good as well though we should be able to trade down and still get him. I know lots of people like Randolph and since I haven’t seen him I’ll abstain but he (or whomever we take) better have a motor!

Sorry, I don’t know where the “A” came from, of course I’m talking about West Virginia not whatever the hell WVA stands for.

    Agreed!

We don’t need players w/o a motor and will to improve and get better.

There are some nice articles in the Portlan area online Newswebsites talking about how much Alexander has impressed people with his work ethic and demeanor.

The Knicks need lunch pail guys not guys who are lazy and salivate over lunch pails- Curry, James etc.

I like how Donnie Basketball is bringing a lot of guys through the Garden. The more he does his due diligence, the more able he will be to wheel and deal on draft day if beneficial opportunities arise. Every time I read about more pre-draft workouts, I get all excited that there might be a trade coming and the Knicks could unload ZBo’s tude on someone else.
