A matter of national pride

August
4

So are we getting caught up in the Olympics yet?

Have you watched Kobe Bryant and LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade simply waltz through a couple of tuneups? Will you invest much time in front of the set admiring Team USA? And do you wonder if the Knicks will ever land a player capable of competing on a world stage?

This is what happens when a team loses.

I’m sure the Knicks have a player or two on the roster with enough talent and drive to play for Team USA, but this group needs to develop a better reputation before anyone is seriously considered for the Olympics. Until the record improves, the whole bunch is considered a risk.

Unless the organization is actually successful in landing a marquee name two years down the road, Danilo Gallinari has a better shot of showing up in London for the 2012 Games than any of his current teammates.

This team USA is not that good I have watched every tune up game and they look mediocre against bad opponents. They go 1 on 1 too much, have no good half court plays, no post presence, poor 3 point shooting, bad pick and roll/ back door defense, and for some reason no one can hit free throws outside of north america. They will lose to either argentina or spain. maybe even greece or germany. I hope im wrong.
