A quick turnaround for Duhon

So what do you think of Chris Duhon right now?
The lesson here is to be patient and let the season unfold. It’s silly to slot anybody into the rotation until everybody is up to speed. We might be a month away from that point.
Duhon isn’t going to contribute 19 points a game, which is fine.
I do like the decisions he’s making when the Knicks have to slow down and set up. And the defense on the ball out top is a huge improvement. There are some gaps elsewhere, but it was encouraging to see the Knicks create turnovers and take off running in the first half, wiping out a sizeable deficit in no time.
There are going to be some unhappy souls on that bench in a month or so.
You can already see how Mike D’Antoni locks into a tight rotation. He’s leaning on eight or nine guys, even in the preseason. What’s going to happen when Danilo Gallinari, Eddy Curry and Jared Jeffries are ready to go? A couple of capable players are going to be limited.
So give me a rotation. Who are your top nine players tight now? Make a list.

Duhon, Crawford, Qrich, Lee, Eddy, Nate, Chandler, Stef, Jeffries(when he comes back)....Eddy will be in Jeffries spot till then
Crawford, Lee, Duhon, Robinson, Marbury, Randolph, Q rich, Curry, and Gallinari… if he ever throws any other players into this mix it will be chandler and houston
Duhon, Crawford, Q-Rich, Zach, Lee, Nate, Marbury, Chandler, Curry/Jeffries (depending on results).
Mardy, Gallo, and maybe Malik or James in spot situations. Ewing and Gallo and the other of Malik/James in street clothes.
Bye bye Roberson, Grunfeld, and Houston.
Starters: Duhon, Crawford, Lee , randolph, Chandler
Reserves: Nate, Marbury, Curry, Q Rich
I agree with Jim, though I believe coach will start Q-Rich and sub in Wilson to begin the season.
Gallo will not see significant minutes this year unless there is an injury, trade or by out.
Jeffries won’ be back for a long time. By then, who knows what the roster will look like. Sounds like coach wants o see him at the 5 and I agree, but not as a starter. I think as long as Randolph is on the team, he should start at the 5.
right now:
Duhan, Crawford, Chandler, Zach, Lee
bench:
Nate, Steph, Q(only till jeffries or danillo comes back), Curry.
Ultimately:
Duhan, Crawford, Chandler, Zach, Lee
bench:
Nate, Steph, Danillo, Jeffries.
If you can add a 10th in either scenerio its Collins. He needs to find a way to play, we really gotta trade one of our guards.
Before trade deadline:
Starters: Duhon, Crawford,Q, Lee, Randolph
Back ups: N8, Marbury, Chandler, Curry
I would try to pump up the value of Q, Curry, and Marbury and then try to trade them to a veteren team in search of a missing piece.
After trade deadline
Starters: Duhon, Crawford,Chandler, Lee, Randolph
Back ups: N8, Collins, Gallo, Jeffries
I would give N8 and Mardy a good look at PG to see if either is the answer for the future. I would give Gallo a long look at SG, huge match up problem and less pounding, because if it works Crawford could be moved next year to free up cap space in 2010. Jeffries gets till the end of the season to prove that either he is Boris Diaw or needs to be traded/benched. Duhon gets 1 season to prove he is legit or if we need to go in another direction.
If everything works out this would be my lineup after 2010:
PG N8
SG Gallo
SF King James
PF Lee
C Randolf
This would be a fun team to watch. Probably not very realistic but this is cyberspace not the real world anyway:)
Jerome James, Malik Rose, Marbury, Houston, Isiah Thomas…
Just kidding. Actually, that wouldn’t have been a bad team in a different lifetime…
I’m suspecting Mardy Collins might turn into a sleeper. He does have to prove himself. But let’s just say he emerges—and sooner rather than later. You start him along with Nate. You put Chandler at SF.
I don’t know if we will win a lot of games, but I like the potential. Right there you have three really super athletes, with explosiveness. I am willing to lose a lot of games to give our biggest potential players room to grow.
I don’t know why, but I’m really not so thriled with Crawford. At times, he’s been great. But I think he best value will ultimately be trade value.
Same with Q.
Anyway, I think the Lee-Randolph combo has some advantages and can cause problems.
So here is my 5 just to be different:
Nate, Collins, Chandler, Lee, Randolph
Bench: Duhon, Crawford, Marbury, Curry and Jeffries (or Gallo if he shows he’s ready to develop).
You buy out Marbury, so that reduces the rotation to 9 or 10.
For the most part this is my starting five on opening night
First Team:
Duhon PG
Crawford SG
Lee PF
Randolph PF
Q-Rich SG/SF
Second Team:
Marbury PG
Gallinari SG/SF
Jefferies C/PF
Nate SG/PG
Chandler PF/SF
Good game the other night.
Starters:
Duhon, Crawford, Chandler, Lee, Zbo
Bench:
Nate, Steph, Eddie, Q
Maybe Gallo and Collins will be ready to step in for Q, Marbs at some point.
Why was Roberson signed in the first place? He’s not going to play at all.
I think we need to stay away from too much conjecture with regard to starters and rotation players.
I liked that the K’s look like they’re switching better on D. There were many fewer uncontested shots for the other team.
Lee mentioned in his post game comments (side court interview, MSG) that people know their roles.
I like D’Antoni so far.
To 9 guys
PG: Chris Duhon
SG: Jamal Crawford
SF: Quentin Richardson
PF: David Lee
C: Zach Randolph————————-
Stephon Marbury
Wilson Chandler
Nate Robinson
Eddy Curry
Robinson, Crawford, Chandler, Lee, Randolph——————Duhon, Marbury, Q, Curry
Plus, we’ll see if Gallinari is ever even healthy enough to take the floor
Mike – is he even practicing?
Mase
He’s shooting on the side and doing lots of core strengthening. The workload is beginning to increase.
