This might be the move hardcore Knicks fans have been waiting for.
Are you ready to make a leap of faith?
If the rumors prove true, Knicks president Donnie Walsh could finally reposition the organization. Of course, a number of things would have to fall into place down the road to further improve the cap situation. And there’s no guarantee LeBron James is coming after 2010 even if those issues are dealt with.
So are you willing to deal with two more lean seasons?
Consider the risk and the rewards. You might have to watch players like Al Harrington, Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley run loose and keep your fingers crossed they don’t slow the development of Wilson Chandler, Nate Robinson and Danilo Gallinari.
There might be a better deal somewhere down the road. There is time on the clock.
Do you wait or jump?

I would hope that, if Marbury can’t get off the inactive list, Harrington/Mobley/Thomas would also get to sit at the end of the bench too. I dislike all of them as basketball players and they all play at positions where the Knicks have really good young players to develop.
It’s an interesting trade idea that just goes with Walsh’s salary cap clearing ultimate philosophy.
I’d hate to see Crawford go, but it was bound to happen at some point.
How D’antoni has treated Marbury makes me more comfortable with this trade. Guys who don’t get it, sit. I’m fine with that. The truth is, the system takes some getting used to so, in order to break into the rotation the new guys will have to work hard from the outset otherwise they won’t play that much and Chandler, N8, Lee’s minutes will go up. As for getting rid of Crawford, I’m alright with that as well. I’m hoping we manage to dump not only Crawford and ZBO but Curry as well. I want us to sign Bosh AND Lebron. Let them play with Chandler upfront and we’ll figure out the guards later. It also would mean we’d be able to resign N8 and Dlee if it seems like a good idea. It’s all about 2010 and it’s going to take at least till then to see if it works. Meantime, they’ll have their ups and downs but as long as the youngsters progress, it’s all good.
What about Q-Brick and Fat Eddy, when are they being shipped out?
I would have waited for a better deal especially with the team playing well and Zach+Craw having great starts… But I guess it is what it is.
I think Z-Bo will not be traded for while, unless they can bring back a similar low post talent. If Knicks do jettisoning Z-Bo, then it’s obvious…they’re tanking this season.
cheers
I don’t agree with the trade…Crawford was a good fit in the Knick’s fast break offense. I don’t know if Harrington will be able to keep up.

it’s a good trade because we are making room for lebron and others in 2010. we are a first round playoff team at best. after we get rid of randolph (will get traded to lac for mobley and thomas), we will have a lot of cap room, and will be in the running for a first round pick. If we get a stud like jennings or rubio, we’re sittin pretty. Just think of a lineup with robinson, jennings, lebron, Q, and amare….then we will all be dancing like nate robinson: http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1859735478?bclid=1859720801&bctid=2454972001
Personally, I’m pissed. The Knicks won’t win 35 games from now until the end of the 2009 season. What a waste. What if they don’t get Lebron? This is really just pissing on the fans who have season tickets. And, the Knicks will continue to not play their best player (Marbury). They should have put Curry out there for a few games and moved him. Randolph and Crawford were carrying the team and the Knicks were fun to watch for once. This f*cking sucks. I’ll check back in before the 2010 season. Screw you, Donnie.
whether they get lebron or not, is sort of not really the point. being so far over the cap, the knicks were extremely limited in what moves they could make to get better. consistantly using the mid level exception just perpetuates the problem. In the NBA, stars win. the knicks have no stars and even worse, were not really ever bad enough to pick one up in the draft, sort of NBA never never land. the next step is to get eddy curry into shape and trade him off
LeBron has to come to NY or this was a total waste. Here’s the million-dollar-question though: If the Knicks are barren of players, how is it a better situation for LeBron than what he’ll have in Cleveland in 2010/11 and beyond?
I hate TimThom. That’s the worst part of the whole thing. I can live with the deals otherwise. But I better not see any of these new guys getting PT over Chandler, or even Nate.
I kind of liked how this season was playing out, but Mobley makes Roberson even more irrelevant, and now their C is Harrington until Fat Eddy is in shape enough to play (and that may never happen in D’antoni’s offense)?
I wonder if Harringtons’s ‘bad back’ will heal quickly now that he’s out of Nellie’s dog-house?
WHY DOES THIS BLOG ONLY POST EVERY 2 WEEKS?!?!? can u atleast give us some actual coverage of a game, stats, something…..anything! One would think that you only dvr the games, watch them a week later than write a 100 word post!
this blog is pathetic. can anyone reference a good one?
Get Eddie Curry out of here…he is awful healthy or injured! He is a waste of time. Trade him because he is a big contract that could last after 2010.
