Lady O’Grady treated me to a fine meal, some fine company and the best card ever, so the following (uninfluenced by Twitter, telinvision or phone) was tape-delayed and live-tweeted:
Wow, STAT looks active. But, oh, STAT looks awkward.
I like Lin talking to STAT on the court and I like ‘Melo talking to Lin on the bench. It’s a G-rated three-way.
Billy Walker is so erratic and so predictable. At the same time. He’s a miracle.
Noooooo communication out there, either end. (13-22)
Mike Breen says pre-Lin Knicks were looking into reacquiring Anthony Carter. Quite a change in plans, eh?
It is absolutely unprecedented that Lin is being DOUBLED at this stage in his career. It’s also Lincomprehensible.
Landry Fields is such a different player now — especially when it comes to creating his own shots, albeit recklessly. Huge improvement, but still wonder if he’s viable as an NBA starter outside of MDA’s system.
Tyson. Stay healthy and un-suspended, Big Fella.
Aaaaaand a timely, fearless Lin-3PM. (33-47)
Dear Clyde, People don’t credit the honesty of your calls enough. No punches pulled. Bravo, Sir.
Feels like too many minutes, too soon, for Lin. Baron’s beard lurks atop his civies nearby.
Zwerling was right. Caulderon is sneaky good.
Amar’e mid-range basically picking up where it left off. Feels like he’s close. Kinda trust him shooting. Not inside, though. Perhaps Gibberman was right, Chandler as PnR partner?
Without defenders anywhere near him, Walker not terribly terrible.
Wow, insane Caulderon rainbow-3!
Lin immediately attacks on ensuing possession — gets fouled — and stems the tide. (54-64)
Kleiza is a really nice player.
Novak is such a joy.
No cohesion with Lin on bench. Need his presence, Rest-Time Over. #ThingsThatWereNeverTweetedInPreSeason (66-75)
I do not know James Johnson at all. I do not like James Johnson at all.
I still maintain – assuming he isn’t soon beheaded in the lane – that Lin will need to cut down on the turnovers or the Baron Davis questions will start coming.
Amar’e needs to play outside. Chandler twice the finisher he is right now. Unreal. I wonder if Stoudemire’s memoirs will cite that 2011 playoff dunk-attempt — and back injury — as the beginning of the end. He desperately needs space nowadays to gather up a head of steam or it’s a no-go. That mid-range shot needs to consistently fall or things could get uglier for STAT than ‘Melo.
Shumpert is harassing out there. Jefferies, too. Contagious, I guess.
What if when ‘Melo gets back, he finds himself so wide open on the wing off busted defensive coverages that he leads the team in scoring WHILE the Knicks pile up wins?
Knicks are SO much more active/sound defensively during the second half. They could actually steal this one. (80-86)
21 SHUMP STREET!!! MONSTER PLAY!!! Guess when he uses two hands, he CAN finish, after all! Even my dog is aroused now.
And one!!! LINNNINGGGGGG!!! (87-87)
Top of the key 3PM!!! 0.5 seconds left!!! MOREEEEEE LINNINGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!! (90-87)
(Epilogue: Everything I ever said about some guy named Baron can be deleted from the Interwebs. I’m all-Lin. Also, not sure who else noticed or/and discussed, but ‘Melo waiting patiently for Lin to leave the court – congratulating him on the DL – looked an awful lot like leadership to me.)
